That means

  press Ctrl+Alt+G to discard input

I suggest

Nyomj Ctrl+Alt+G-t a bemeneti eszközök elengedéséhez

("press Ctrl+Alt+G to release input devices")

Hrmph. Yet another overloaded word. "Leállítva" can just as well mean
"shut down" (adverb or adjective, not the verb). I'm tempted to
recommend "felfüggesztve" (~= suspended), but that of course overlaps
with the power management kind of "suspend".

IIRC the pause button on remote controls was explained as "pillanatállj"
in old manuals ("momentary stop"). Not bad from the meaning side but it
sounds super lame, plus I have no idea how to make an adverb/abjective
out of "pillanatállj" -- "egy pillanatra megállítva"? Tragic.

Take your pick, I'll ACK whatever you choose...

"virtuális gép" perhaps?

I think the word is used here as a verb, ie. "pause the virtual
machine". You could say "Felfüggesztés" (noun) or "Felfüggeszt" (verb,
present tense, singular, third person) -- again forms of "suspend". I
seem to recall that the second form is preferred in some circles but I
could be easily wrong. "Pillanatállj" could work too (the eighties say
hello!)

"Megállít" (halt, stop) for "pause" nevertheless sounds better than
"Leállítva" for "paused" above.

Good idea.

"Bemeneti eszközök kisajátítása" is more accurate but of course sounds
horrible...

Anyway I just wanted to discuss a few ideas, I don't insist on anything.
For me Hungarian localization of software is a lost cause, it's mostly
impossible to translate English technical terms without sounding weird
and arbitrary. Whatever you follow up with I'll ACK.

Comparing the Italian and Hungarian translations of Rhythmbox gives
these ideas:

msgid "%s (Paused)"
msgstr "%s (leállítva)"

msgid "Pause"
msgstr "Szünet"

I know nothing about Hungarian (except "egesegede" or something like
that), so perhaps the latter doesn't make any sense for a VM. In that
case, "Pause" is definitely meant to be the same you had on remote
controls (and still have actually), and "Pillanatállj" sounds like a
good choice.

Anything that is the same as the translation of "Suspend" in the
shell/panel UI is wrong (again, gnome-shell.mo suggests that's
"Felfüggesztés").

Actually "szünet" is a great suggestion. No idea why I didn't think of
it! "Szünet" is a noun, but if you want to cause something to pause, you
could say "szüneteltet".

Either "szünet" (pause, noun) or "szüneteltet" (approx. to pause sth,
verb) is good IMHO. "Szünetel" is also good for "it is making pause"
(ie. it's paused).

Let's see what Ákos thinks :)

Agreed.

I think " [Megállítva]" is better here or maybe "befagyasztva" could be
considered which means frozen that probably does not collide with other
usages like suspend. Your latest suggestion of "szüneteltetve",
"szüneteltetés" is also good and less confusing than "leállítva" and
even more distinct from it then "megállítva" so that may be even better.

I have never ever heard anyone actually using that word other than in
translated manuals. Probably for a reason...

How about "megragadás/a" for a translation of grab? But probably it sounds
more horrible than your suggestion which is not so bad IMO. The problem
with all of these is that they are not obvious to someone not
knowledgeable about the concept but that may be true for the English term
too.

I think "frozen" for "paused" is a bit of a stretch (although not much!).

I agree we could translate "grab" verbatim to "megragadás" -- why not.

I was a bit inconsistent with this. I vote for "Megállítva" here. It makes just a
little difference, but doesn't sounds so final. As I see VirtualBox also
uses it in a similar context. "Felfüggesztve" is also great but as you said,
it conflicts with the power management.

I like Paolo's suggestion "szünet"/"szünetel", but my brain always
associates it to music.

"befagyasztás"/"befegyasztva" is also good, so I don't know.

"Pillanatállj" is simly wierd. :-)

I think users might know, what kind of machines they are controlling. As
I see this word is shown in a menu. In my opinion, it's not a good idea to
display multiple words there. But it's just a small difference.

Yes, you are right.

"Bemeneti eszközök megragadása" or "Bemenet megragadása" is fine and in
pair with the "bemeneti eszközök eldobása", as suggested by Laszlo.

Yes, other softwares can cheat with longer descriptive text. It is hard
to put one world to describe a whole complex technical term. So I
don't rule out anything.
