Three of the callers were changed to\nuse start_removing_dentry() which takes an extra reference so in those\ncases the call gets the expected references.\n\nHowever there is another call to cachefiles_bury_object() in\ncachefiles_cull() which did not need to be changed to use\nstart_removing_dentry() and so was not properly considered.\nIt still passed the dentry with just one reference so the net result is\nthat a reference is lost.\n\nTo meet the expectations of cachefiles_bury_object(), cachefiles_cull()\nmust take an extra reference before the call.  It will be dropped by\ncachefiles_bury_object().\n\nReported-by: Marc Dionne <marc.dionne@auristor.com>\nFixes: 7bb1eb45e43c (\"VFS: introduce start_removing_dentry()\")\nSigned-off-by: NeilBrown <neil@brown.name>\nSigned-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com>\nAcked-by: Paulo Alcantara (Red Hat) <pc@manguebit.org>\ncc: netfs@lists.linux.dev\ncc: linux-afs@lists.infradead.org\ncc: linux-fsdevel@vger.kernel.org\n---\n fs/cachefiles/namei.c | 5 +++++\n 1 file changed, 5 insertions(+)","diff":"diff --git a/fs/cachefiles/namei.c b/fs/cachefiles/namei.c\nindex e5ec90dccc27..eb9eb7683e3c 100644\n--- a/fs/cachefiles/namei.c\n+++ b/fs/cachefiles/namei.c\n@@ -810,6 +810,11 @@ int cachefiles_cull(struct cachefiles_cache *cache, struct dentry *dir,\n \tif (ret < 0)\n \t\tgoto error_unlock;\n \n+\t/*\n+\t * cachefiles_bury_object() expects 2 references to 'victim',\n+\t * and drops one.\n+\t */\n+\tdget(victim);\n \tret = cachefiles_bury_object(cache, NULL, dir, victim,\n \t\t\t\t     FSCACHE_OBJECT_WAS_CULLED);\n \tdput(victim);\n","prefixes":["3/4"]}
