This is a note to let you know that I have just added a patch titled

block: do not pass disk names as format strings

to the linux-3.8.y-queue branch of the 3.8.y.z extended stable tree
which can be found at:

 http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/linux-3.8.y-queue

If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to this tree, please
reply to this email.

For more information about the 3.8.y.z tree, see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Dev/ExtendedStable

Thanks.

Subject: [PATCH] block: do not pass disk names as format strings

commit ffc8b30866879ed9ba62bd0a86fecdbd51cd3d19 upstream.

Disk names may contain arbitrary strings, so they must not be
interpreted as format strings. It seems that only md allows arbitrary
strings to be used for disk names, but this could allow for a local
memory corruption from uid 0 into ring 0.
