[v3,01/20] virtual-bus: Implementation of Virtual Bus

This is the initial implementation of the virtual bus,
virtbus_device and virtbus_driver.  The virtual bus is
a software based bus intended to support registering
virtbus_devices and virtbus_drivers and provide matching
between them and probing of the registered drivers.

The primary purpose of the virtual bus is to provide
matching services to allow the use of a container_of
to get access to a piece of desired data.  This will
allow two separate kernel objects to match up and
start communication.

The bus will support probe/remove shutdown and
suspend/resume callbacks.

Kconfig and Makefile alterations are included

I was under impression that usage of IDA interface is discouraged in favor
of direct calls to XArray.

What?  That's not the job of a virtual bus, a virtual bus is there to
put devices on it and hook them up to drivers.

What do you mean by "two separate kernel objects"?  What are the objects
here?

That's just how the driver model works, I'm not quite sure what you are
trying to say here.  What is this section for?

I don't understand this documentation at all.  Can't you put what you
need in the code itself and have it be auto-generated?  This is really
vague stuff that I can't find useful.  And if I don't understand it,
well...  :)

Ugh, you just lost the reference count logic for your call to
device_initialize() above, right?  Or did you document the heck out of
this saying that if you call virtbus_dev_register, you MUST call
put_device() to properly clean things up.

I generally try to discourage the pattern where the device_initialize
is inside a function called register.

The kref inside the struct device should be the only kref for this
memory, and the kref system should be setup close to allocating the
memory. Any non-trivial user tends to require access to the kref
before calling register (which should be done last)

Is something wrong with my search? I couldn't find a user for this?

If the virtbus framework wants to provide a release function then it
should also provide the alloc and require that the virtbus_device be
at offset 0 in the caller's struct so that the above kfree can work.
(ie like netdev does with the whole priv thing)

I have no idea what the virtbus_object is supposed to be doing here.
