Hi.

As mentioned in the PR, we should guarantee that a function ends before
it starts (from source line perspective).

For gcc-8 branch, a work-around would be needed.

Survives tests and bootstrap on x86_64-linux-gnu.
Ready for trunk and gcc-8 branch?

OK for the trunk.  And the work-around for gcc-8 branch is OK as well
assuming you think it's worth fixing.
