This is a note to let you know that I have just added a patch titled NFS: Don't silently fail setattr() requests on mountpoints to the linux-3.5.y-queue branch of the 3.5.y.z extended stable tree which can be found at: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/linux-3.5.y-queue If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to this tree, please reply to this email. For more information about the 3.5.y.z tree, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Dev/ExtendedStable Thanks. -Herton ------ From 529e9b8d6efe15e196d3f459a5984991715204a2 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Trond Myklebust <Trond.Myklebust@netapp.com> Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2013 00:17:06 -0500 Subject: [PATCH] NFS: Don't silently fail setattr() requests on mountpoints commit ab225417825963b6dc66be7ea80f94ac1378dfdf upstream. Ensure that any setattr and getattr requests for junctions and/or mountpoints are sent to the server. Ever since commit 0ec26fd0698 (vfs: automount should ignore LOOKUP_FOLLOW), we have silently dropped any setattr requests to a server-side mountpoint. For referrals, we have silently dropped both getattr and setattr requests. This patch restores the original behaviour for setattr on mountpoints, and tries to do the same for referrals, provided that we have a filehandle...
