Here's an updated patch that introduces expansion using cselib
equivalences, reverts the changes that brought more equivalences from
cselib into VT dataflow sets (but preserving the values, so that they're
not discarded), it changes the way the expression complexity (depth) is
computed so that it only grows when we use more than one operand, and
other minor assorted changes.

As before, it makes little difference to bootstrap time, but it brings
about significant improvements to corner cases that exposed exponential
behavior.

I've experimented with computing all expressions and taking the one with
minimal depth, but it was costly and didn't bring about any visible
improvement in debug info. I've also started some experiments with
dropping from dataflow sets equivalences that are implied by cselib, but
I figured this requires some more experimenting and most likely dataflow
set merging improvements to avoid losing relevant debug information.
Current expression merging is quite limited, so it might be that we
wouldn't really lose anything, but since we don't even look in cselib
equivalences there, I'll save those improvements for a later patch.

I've made the measurements you did on the earlier version of the patch
following this procedure:

- I bootstrapped r179549 without the patch (actually, without the
changes to gcc/var-tracking.c in the patch; those in docs, comments and
new unused macros elsewhere were put it to make testing simpler)

- I saved a copy of stage3 gcc

- I copied srcdir/gcc/var-tracking.c into the (stage3) gcc/ build dir
(so that stage3 would be built out of the same sources), applied the
var-tracking.c changes to srcdir and rebuilt stage2-gcc to pick up the
  changes

- in (stage3) gcc, I ran make clean and make, and then I collected
debug info statistics on the cc1plus binaries, like you did.

I see
+FAIL: gcc.c-torture/compile/pr19080.c -O3 -g (internal compiler error)
+FAIL: gcc.c-torture/compile/pr19080.c -O3 -g (test for excess errors)
regression with this patch on x86_64-linux (--enable-checking=yes,rtl), ICE
in var-tracking. Can you please look at that?

+/* Enumeration type used to discriminate various types of one-part

Just a style nit, isn't { supposed to go on the next line?

Otherwise looks ok.
