[tpmdd-devel,v6] tpm: Check size of response before accessing data

Commit Message

Make sure that we have not received less bytes than what is indicated
in the header of the TPM response. Also, check the number of bytes in
the response before accessing its data.

Signed-off-by: Stefan Berger <stefanb@linux.vnet.ibm.com>

---

v6:
 - Fixed comparsion of size_t with negative number in transmit_cmd
 - Added new min_rx_length parameter to documentation
 - Reworked error checking in tpm_transmit_cmd to check for TPM
error and return that before validating expected minimum size.

v5:
 - Fixed a bug related to tpm_getcap() having to allow to return
only a header rather than having to receive a full response

It doesn't make sense to pass TPM_HEADER_SIZE every time. That
should be checked for every response.

Do not do this unnecessary rename.

And in this case there isn't even a cosmetic benefit because it is not
named coherently with the next parameter.

> + * @min_rx_length: minimum expected length of response

Please, rename as min_rsp_body_len and change the description
accordingly.

This is kind of stuff that I complained already in v5. Why isn't
it fixed?

tpm_getcap needs to pass something as min_rsp_body_length to
tpm_transmit_cmd. What would it pass?

I do not understand the problem. You are already

  TPM_HEADER_SIZE + min_cap_length

When we make this two patches (commits), what would tpm_getcap pass to
tpm_transmit_cmd in the place of the min_rsp_body_length parameter? I
don't think it makes sense to split up this patch.

Aaah. Sorry I didn't follow. You are correct. Lets keep it one patch.
