This patch may conflict with the patch I posted on April 19.

Yoshi,

Whatever gets in first, the other patch will have to rebased. I'm
fine either way.

I'm happy to rebase too.  Wanted to know if there is a plan, so that I can work 
beforehand, but never mind.
